About Will Roush

Transplanted from Manhattan, New York to the suburbs of Greenwich, Connecticut, rapper Will Roush found himself in an environment with virtually no hip hop scene. But he sought refuge in rhyming. This channeling of creative energy was Will’s salvation when he was diagnosed with the lethal heart condition Supraventricular Tachycardia and given only days to live. Ever the fighter, Will overcame the illness. Will’s diverse experiences heavily influence his work and give the 20 year-old MC a broad reach. His two street singles, “What I Gotta Do Dilla” produced by the legendary Jay Dee, and “Know My Name” produced by DJ Khalil, gives audiences their first opportunity to hear a rising star. The songs are from Will’s introductory mixtape, Know My Name Vol. 1, presented by two of hip-hop’s most credible tastemakers, New York’s DJ Whoo Kid and LA’s DJ Skee. Know My Name Vol. 1 is a conceptual mixtape, themed around the idea of Will Roush time traveling through hip-hop’s storied past searching for the proper knowledge and history so as to properly influence and inspire his own burgeoning rap career. The mixtape also features production by Ski Beatz (of early Roc-A-Fella fame), and Dub-Z, who’s worked with the likes of Ghostface and Capone-N-Noreaga, among others. Guests on the project include Young Buck, Stat Quo, Prodigy, Redman and Tiffany Villareal. Former Aftermath/Shady Records artist Stat Quo, who appears on the song “Break Ya Back,” says: “Will is great example of someone who has a dream and is out here making it happen. He’s going to do big things in this game.”
